Australian Marine Ecology recognises the importance of continual development and the expansion of scientific knowledge for all personnel. Our Research and Development program has a key role in keeping the company at the forefront of scientific discovery and technology in our field. Our R&D programs include:
- Classification of acoustic echograms.
- Mosaicing, segmentation and classification of sidescan sonar data.
- Development of scientific monitoring through ecotourism operations.
- Development of stereo video and underwater robotics for fish census, mapping and benthic community surveys.
- Implementation of stereo and mono video for 3D surface reconstruction and simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM).
- Development of quality assurance and quality control software for environmental monitoring programs.
- Modelling of seagrass photokinetics, growth, architecture and patch dynamics.
